Peter S. Amico
May 5, 1955 – May 21, 2011
Since joining our troop in March 2001, Mr. Amico has had a major positive impact on our Troop Committee and the development of our youth members, serving as Assistant Scoutmaster and Eagle Scout Advisor. Mr. Amico’s accomplishments are many, but he was most proud of his son Nick, who earned his Eagle Scout rank in November 2007. During his 10 year tenure with Troop 9, Mr. Amico has coached more than 17 successful Eagle Scout candidates in their pursuit of the highest rank in scouting. His wife Fern served as a Merit Badge counselor for many years.
Pete Amico, served in Scouting for 25+ years, he truly lived the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life and serves as a scouting role model to us all. His gregarious presence, friendship and sage advice will be profoundly missed by all of the Troop 9 family, friends and the Stamford community.
I’ll always be there if you know where to look, by a quiet pond or a running brook, in a boat that’s anchored in a sheltered bay, casting the shoreline at the break of day. Watching for deer as they come down to feed, fishing for large mouth on the edge of the weed, walking the shoreline where the cattails grow tall, by a country road where summer meets fall. On a grassy bank amid the birds and flowers, under the summer sun of the cool April showers, relaxing at night by the light of the moon, where silence is broken by the call of the loon. So don’t grieve for me, I am still around, if you know where to look I can be found. Where fishermen talk about the catch of the day, I’ll be no more than a few steps away.
