MICHAEL HOLIMAN OBITUARY
MICHAEL A. HOLIMAN - Born September 22, 1943, died March 10, 2007. Mike was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Maggie Leece and Henry "Dutch" Holiman. In 1957 Mike and his family moved to New York City where he met Helen who became his bride in 1966. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1966, served one tour of duty in Vietnam and was stationed in DaNang during the Tet offensive. After his service was complete he moved to Huntsville, TX to finish his education at East Texas State University.
In 1975 he moved back up north to Connecticut and pursued a career in Book Manufacturing. He became a Scoutmaster in Troop 9, Stamford, CT. He served scouting for eighteen years and, being an Eagle Scout himself, saw both his sons become Eagle scouts. In 2003 he moved to Concord, NC to be closer to family. He joined the Marine Corps League and served as Senior Vice Commandant. Mike was employed at Security Force Inc. as a Captain for the past year and a half.
Survived by his wife, Helen, of forty years and his sons, Gregg and Todd. Gregg and daughter-in-law Pam have two children, Matt and Kelsey. Todd and girl friend Tracey reside in New Hampshire. Todd's son, William, lives in CT. Mike's mother Maggie Leece lives in Camden, Arkansas. Mike's sisters, Nancy and Trelvia reside in Arkansas and Florida respectively.
A gathering of family and friends was held at McEwen Funeral Service, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262, 704 596-3291 on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

I was sorry to hear of Mr. Holiman's passing. I will always remember him leading us Boy Scouts on another hike or backpacking trip or whitewater rafting excursion. He was a great scoutmaster and made scouting a wonderful experience for myself and countless others
